PET TRAINING

OUR FAVORITE TRAINERS

THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING YOUR DOG

Training is an essential part of owning a dog and can be started at any age. Training builds confidence, provides mental stimulation and strengthens the human-animal bond. Dogs are always learning. It is never too late to start training. As a good dog owner, it’s your responsibility to ensure your dog is properly trained. When you properly train your dog, you’re giving it the skills it needs to live peacefully among humans and other animals. Failure to properly train your dog could result in destructive behaviors. For example, they could become anxious and chew up your furniture when you’re not around. Or they could also behave aggressively towards people or other pets.

We trust the Mirror Image K9 team because their training is centered around the psychology of the dog. Their job is to teach you to think like your dog, not to teach your dog to think like a human. You’ll learn what exactly your dog is learning from your interactions with them and how we can modify them to say what we actually mean. This method of training is the most effective, and positive way to create a balanced dog and to provide information to our dogs on what we like through positive reinforcement and what we do not like through direction and correction.

Please visit their website to learn more about the various training options and mention OZZIE ALBIES FOUNDATION to receive 10% off your first session.

Rehoming Your Pet

Q&A

Key Components of Rehoming a Pet.

Life happens, and changes sometimes mean that you may find yourself in need of finding a new home for your pet or the pet of a loved one. If you're in this situation, we'd like to encourage you to try and re-home your pet directly rather than bringing them to the shelter. This a more calming transition and comforting way for the pet, and means that you are able to be fully involved in the process.

We're here to help and can recommend some key tips and tricks to make the process go quite smoothly. If however, you feel you've exhausted all your options, know that you can of course contact us to discuss your choices.

BECOME A FOSTER

Would you like to be a foster parent?

Fostering is important because it helps reduce overcrowding in shelters and opens up space for another animal to be saved. It also helps prepare animals for adoption by giving them a chance to live in a home where they can fully express their personality, work to overcome fears, or recover from trauma.

We can help you take the first step to become a foster parent! Simply fill out our foster questionnaire and we will begin the process to pair you with the perfect foster fur baby.

VOLUNTEER

Volunteer at your local animal shelter.

There is always something you can do. You can walk dogs at your shelter, stuff envelopes for an educational mailing, clean cages, assist with a fundraising event, fill water bowls, or give out toys and treats. You can make a difference in the lives of animals. If you can’t adopt a pet just yet, you can help make life better for animals in your community by volunteering with your local shelter or rescue organization.
